Monster Avocado Auction raising funds for KiwiHarvest
Get your bid in and enjoy the pick of a Monster Crop
If you’ve grown your own produce then you know the thrill of the harvest. Particularly when your fruit is particularly big or strangely shaped. No wonder then that Greg Taylor (pictured) and Linda Taylor have been enjoying the excitement from their latest crop at Avocado Movement.
These avocado orchardists from Gisborne have been harvesting their Daily 11 avocados and 2022 is providing a bumper batch. Linda told us more about her crop:
“Daily 11 avocados are the giants of the avocado world. Where sometimes you sacrifice flavour or texture for size, there’s none of that with the Daily 11. These beauties are huge, creamy and ready to be eaten.”
Thankfully Linda and Greg are generous people and they are determined to share the fruits of their labour. That’s why this year they have decided to auction their Daily 11 avocados on TradeMe over 30 days to raise money for KiwiHarvest: a charity the Avocado Movement team really believes in.

“It feels great to be able to give something back while allowing people to try these incredible avocados. Our business – Avocado Movement – specialises in tree matured avocados that are bursting with flavour. Our Daily 11 avocados are no exception: they’re just 4 times the size of our normal crop.”
100% of the proceeds of the auction will go to KiwiHarvest, with Toll donating the shipping cost for every auction winner. KiwiHarvest is a New Zealand charity that works with food businesses, including supermarkets, wholesalers, producers, cafes, restaurants, and hotels, to rescue the good food that they are not able to sell, usually because of oversupply, damaged packaging, cancelled orders, mislabelling, or because the food is nearing its best before date or end of life. They divert this food to people in need across New Zealand.
Winners of the auctions on TradeMe receive their Monster Avocado and a box of tree matured Avocado Movement avocados.
Avocado Movement is going to run their Great Monster Avocado Auction on TradeMe every day for 30 days from 15 March 2022. All proceeds will go directly to KiwiHarvest to support their work. Auctions of each avocado will run for 24 hours and the winner will not just have their Daily 11 avocado shipped to the NZ address of their choice; they’ll also receive a box of Avocado Movement’s delicious tree matured avocados.
The auction will be promoted across the month with daily posts and regular giveaways on social media. Search for Avocado Movement and follow or like the page to stay up to date.
